27) How do you ensure the security and privacy of users’ data?

We follow the next rules from a development perspective:

Input Validation: Always validate and sanitize user input to prevent common security vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Use appropriate PHP functions like mysqli_real_escape_string or prepared statements to prevent SQL injection, and htmlspecialchars to prevent XSS attacks.

Password Storage: Never store passwords in plain text. Instead, use strong one-way hashing algorithms, such as bcrypt or Argon2, to securely store passwords. These algorithms ensure that even if the database is compromised, the passwords cannot be easily reversed.

Secure Communication: Utilize secure communication protocols such as HTTPS/SSL/TLS to encrypt data transmitted between the client and the server. This helps protect sensitive information, including passwords, personal details, and financial data, from interception or tampering.

Role-Based Access Control: Implement role-based access control (RBAC) to restrict user access to specific functionalities and resources based on their roles and permissions. This prevents unauthorized access and reduces the risk of data breaches.

Data Sanitization: Ensure that any data displayed to users is properly sanitized to prevent XSS attacks. Use PHP functions like htmlspecialchars or frameworks that automatically handle output escaping.

Secure Session Management: Properly manage user sessions by using secure session handling techniques. Generate strong session IDs, store them securely (e.g., in a database or encrypted cookie), and validate them with each user request to prevent session hijacking or session fixation attacks.

Secure File Uploads: Implement strict validation and filtering when allowing users to upload files. Restrict the file types, validate the file size, and consider utilizing a separate storage system outside of the web root directory to prevent the execution of malicious files.

Regular Updates and Patching: Keep your PHP version, web server, database, and other software dependencies up to date with the latest security patches. Regularly check for security advisories and apply relevant updates to protect against known vulnerabilities.

Data Encryption: If you store sensitive information, such as credit card details or personal identification numbers (PINs), consider encrypting that data both at rest and in transit. Encryption helps ensure that even if the data is accessed without authorization, it remains unreadable.

Logging and Monitoring: Implement comprehensive logging and monitoring mechanisms to track and detect any suspicious activities. Monitor access logs, error logs, and server logs to identify potential security breaches or unauthorized access attempts.

Finally. Security is an ongoing process, and it’s important to stay informed about the latest security best practices and regularly review and update your security measures as new threats emerge.

We are constantly studying such resources as G2, Сaptera and feedback left by the user on the Marketplace Jira under each tracker, in addition to different reviews from Forbes and other sources.

Yes, I have a company and a patent for AStime.
